Going Out

Going Out

Maria Montessori believed that the 6-9 child needed to go out of the classroom environment and explore. She based this belief on her observations of the children. This was in contrast to the 3-6 year old child who she observed had a great need to master the classroom environment they were in. The 6-9 year old children would decide their destination and then would go about planning it and setting it up with only necessary guidance from the adult.

I think this can also refer to adult planned field trips.
